Ongoing back issues 😞

Well it seems my enthusiasm for getting back into walking daily and enjoying it have hit a tiny snag! My back has other ideas, unfortunately!
Since my operation in February this year, and subsequently returning to work full time, I've been plagued with lower back problems 😕 Nowhere near the same pain I experienced pre-op (thank goodness!!) but it is at a point where it's limiting what I can physically do!
I've been back to see my local GP and will be starting physiotherapy again, in an attempt to loosen up the constantly tight muscles in my lower back.
I'm hoping to have some set exercises that I can complete daily at home, as the 2.5hrs travel (each round trip) to the physio does tend to undo any good achieved during each sessionn!
I refuse to accept that the pain I'm currently having is going to stay with me for the rest of my life!  I'm still young, I still have lots I want to do, I want to travel (now the kids are all old enough to look after themselves....we'll almost lol!).
Whilst this journey has been long I no longer feel defeated, as I have in the past.  I'm amazed at what I have acheieved!  My weight has been like a yoyo, up and down!  But I'm not ready to throw in the towel!
My views about my body have changed a lot though during this journey, I no longer feel revolt or disgust when I see my reflection.  Maybe it's turning my back on the ever present ads on Facebook, promising a 'sizzling hot summer bod in just 14 days' ( all at the low price of $99.99!!) refusing to look at 'women's magazines' - that constantly promote wafer thin models in floaty frocks?  Maybe I'm older and wiser and more accepting of the amazing things my body CAN do instead of focussing on the things it CAN'T?
I'm happy with where I am right now, I have a few kgs to to drop if I'm wanting to get back into the 'healthy weight range' according to my BMI calculator but I'm far from obsessed about reaching this goal, wanting to achieve good health and a fitness level I can maintain without having to become focussed on calories and optimal heart rate!
When I started this blog, it was supposed to be a way to record my progress, the goal was to reach an acceptable weight and shape - one that would be deemed 'acceptable' but acceptable to who?  My friends and family - they don't care about these things lol, they care about my wellbeing and my happiness!  So was I caught up in the medias hype about what shapes are deemed beautiful?  Probably, but I played a part in that, I allowed myself to become lost in that web of lies!
So now the focus has changed, I want to work hard to allow my body to be as 'pain-free' as possible, so that I can enjoy my early morning/late night walks.  I look in the mirror and see something beautiful, a body that has achieved amazing things, that has endured more pain than I ever thought possible - but it's still there, carrying me from day to day!
I still have lumps, bumps and jiggles and stretch marks that map out the story of my life so far, but I now love each part of me!
I embrace my perfectly imperfect body, because it is beautiful, because life is too short and because it is who I am, because it is ME!!

Not gone entirely!

It's been so long since my last post that I thought I'd write a quick post and let anyone following that I'm still here 😊 Mostly I've been AWOL due to a back injury in April last year that eventually required surgery. I had the surgery in early February and certainly feel a lot better for it, however I still have numbness down the back of my left leg and in my hip, better than being in agony 24/7 and having to use a walking stick to get about let me tell you!!  I did however realise how amazing my body was during the time I was mostly laid up in bed.  Sadly the scales peaked to 99.9kgs (220lbs), once I realised that surgery was probably on the cards I started worrying that my weight was going to hinder the whole procedure.  I was actually having nightmares about not waking up!   So I decided that since I was totally incapacitated when it came to any kind of exercise, I could control what foods I was putting into my mouth!  So I did!   In November last year I stopped eating any meat, poultry or fish, total vegetarian diet (not the first time in my life that I've done this - and was more a lifestyle choice than a Weightloss decision).   My breakfast consists of organic muesli with a small amount of soy milk, lunch is some crackers usually with cottage cheese and cucumber and dinner is salad or vegetable soup. Occasionally I'll have something different for dinner like noodles and vegetables but most nights it's just salad.   So how's the weight now?  Well I'm happy to say that in the past 4 months I've lost 27.1kgs (almost 60lbs).  I've really done no exercise in the month post surgery, just some physio-set stretching and maintaining flexibility, so all in all I'm pretty happy. I still have a way to go to be where I want to be but now I know that my body can do this I plan on sticking to my meal plan, having the occasional splurge and enjoying the fact that some of clothes fit me again 😁 I'll be back again soon to fill you in on the progress, I'll be seeing a new physiotherapist soon as I really want to start incorporating more 'safe' exercise into my life, what can I say ......life is good!  See you again soon 👋

A year....really?

Well almost a whole year has passed since my last post, so I thought I'd better let you know that I'm still alive!

A lot seems to have changed since my last post, my eldest son moved to Ireland and I miss him so much it physically hurts!

My daughter moved back to town with her partner and she gave birth to my first grandchild in August, a beautiful little boy, he is just an absolute delight and I get to see him several times a day as they literally live in the next street, so I'm very fortunate!

My youngest son is finishing school this year, so his adult adventures will be starting very soon too!

What about me?

Well a few years back now I was diagnosed with bipolar, SURPRISE!  So the mega cocktail of drugs I've been trying certainly haven't hepled with my weight loss journey ...although they've been more than generous in the weight gain department!!

At the moment I'm winging it medication free, mostly due to the sever depression I was suffering from each time I hopped on the scales but also I  felt that I was becoming an unemotional zombie, spending way too much time staring into space and struggling to keep up with conversations and avoiding all (outside of work) social interactions!

So where does that leave me?

I'm trying to slowly put things back together, so that this existance somewhat resembles, what was once my life....whatever that was!!

So I'll be back to eating healthy and trying to coax myself outside each day to at least walk a little.

I'll keep you posted, hopefully it won't be another 12 months until I wrote again!

To all those reaching out for goals, keep going......always remember ....YOU'RE WORTH THIS!!

Just a quicky....

Just back from a 4km walk and a lovely lazy evening meal ...lol....hey come on now!  Anyone who has read more than 1 of my posts just knows I can't keep totally on the wagon!

The "meal" was a bowl of oats with grated apple, sprinkled with cinnamon, I have to say it is one of my favourite "meals".

Anyway I forgot to mention that a while ago ....before the Walk In Her Shoes Challenge, my hubby bought me a present, a Samsung Gear Fit!

How lucky am I, right?

I obviously had a Samsung phone (Note 4) and hubby was originally going to get me a fitbit ....then he asked the sales assistant to chat to me, which he did, after lots of pros and cons explained I walked away from the phone call thinking I was getting a Garmin.....when I got home from work hubby surprised me with the Gear Fit.

I have to say that it is AWESOME!!  I love that I can have the time and the number of steps I've walked at the same time.  That was a great feature when I was walking 20,000 steps each day!!  When you hit 5,000 and 10,000 (the recommended number of daily steps) the watch buzzes and shows a little medal lol

Also I've signed up for another round of Michelle Bridges 12WBT.  I did this back in 2013, lost some weight then fell off the wagon ...totally off the wagon!!  Hence the need to rejoin! lol

Any Hoo thats your lot for today!!  Bed will soon be calling :)

Crikey ....twice in as many days!

So.... yes, I'm here again!

We had dinner quite late yesterday and I almost threw the towel in and didn't walk ....BUT .....you'll all be pleased to read that I actually DID go for a walk, only 4kms but hey better than sitting on my butt eating junk right??

It's been a busy day here so far, had to do a mega grocery shop as my dad has come to stay with us, so no more empty fridge, it is packed with good foods, easy to eat fruits for grabbing something in the run.

I'll be off for another walk tonight but I'll have to make sure I leave earlier, so I better start getting dinner cooked very soon!!

So come on people what can I do to stay motivated, what motivates you to stay on track each day?

Are you better at staying on track with food or exercise?

What are your easy 'go to meals' when you days are super busy?

What are your favourite or loathed exercises?

Look forward to reading your responses!!

Ciao for now MJ :)

It's been a while....

Well it's been a while since I've posted anything at all so I thought I better write and let you know how I went with my Walk In Her Shoes challenge.  I managed to walk just over 100kms in 1 week!!  I was actually amazed at how much I enjoyed it ....well apart from the blisters all over my feet!  I think there were times that I had bandaids on every single toe!!

To celebrate I purchased some new exercise clothing ...but in true MJ style, I've been out two or three times since then!  Each night I lay in bed thinking how I'm going to get up early and walk then walk again after work each day .....they say Ït's the thought that counts" ... bullcrap!!  I think about it all the time but it's not helping me loose any of these excess cms off my ever expanding belly!!

As I've decided to address my 'mammoth mammary condition'.....(giant boobs) so hubby and I are in the process of saving the $10,000 for a breast reduction, I'm hoping to get it done by the end of this year sometime....something to look forward to ...well maybe not the pain but certainly the smaller boobage!

So you see, I really do have something to work towards, so I've decided that if I get back to walking and blogging, I'm sure there will be some of you out there to spur me on......?  I hope!!

Two weeks from today I'll give you all some numbers and we can hopefully ...fingers crossed ...watch the numbers together as they decrease!!  I don't want to have little boobies and a giant belly!!
So let me know if anyones out there and reading and I'll keep posting and walking, talk soon, MJ x

Yeah....heavy as a house ...but still here

So here I am again.....it seems that I can't do anything as well I can pile on weight!!!

Now up to my heaviest ever!!

Very depressing....but as always ready to give it anoth (yes another!) go!!

So I've started logging meals again in my fitness pal and have downloaded map my walk too, purchased a new bike (one of the pedal power kind...not another motornike!) so I intend to use that to get about town and get back into walking, I really do get so much enjoyment out of it.....will even drag the elliptical x-trainer into the back room, which is now airconditioned so no excuses that "it's too hot!"

To keep me honest I've pledged to walk 100kms (just over 62 miles) in one week in March for CARE Australia, if any kind souls would like to donate, heres my page
The 2015 Walk In Her Shoes Challenge  please give generously :D

Still here.......

How’s the weight loss going.....well it's going ....not well but it still going :)

I've been re-reading all of my earlier posts, gee I was so energetic wasn't I?  Where the hell did that all go? I've had a pretty full on day today, so arms, legs and back are feeling a wee bit tender lol

I cleaned up the garage area then decided to detail my car....never, ever again!  I can feel muscles that I didn't even know existed!  The end result is pretty amazing though (even if I do say so myself, oh wait I already did lol).

Car is sparkling clean, free of dog hair and smelling lovely!  Me on the other hand, I was filthy dirty (didn't help that I stood in dog poo when I was hosing the car YUK!)  I am now showered and feeling as clean as the car though ....and free of dog poo smell :)

I've been very hit n' miss with my food (nothing new there), but I have been good today - only had a couple of cups of coffee and a handful of grapes and almonds.  YES I know that isn't enough ....I'm making shepherds pie and vegies for dinner tonight so that will more than make up for any deficit in calories lol

Tomorrow I'm going to drag my lovely neighbour out for a walk, oh I went for a walk this morning (pre-cleaning garage and washing car) with my youngest son and the dogs.  So I've certainly done more exercise than I have in a VERY LONG WHILE!

Swapping the old (blue) tiger for the new one!
Hubby and I have been away a few times since my last post.  First trip away we headed off to Bundaburg and Bagarga, coming back through the town of 1770 and then up to Rockhampton and home.  Second trip we headed to Hervey Bay, lovely!  The next morning we rode (oh all the trips were done on the motorbike) down to Caboolture to see hubbys Nanna, she's 97 and totally gorgeous!  Then stayed in Brisbane that night, looked at a new bike (ended up buying it - trading in our trusty tiger - for a newer model Tiger Explorer) then rode that night to Toowoomba then home the next day.  It was FREEZING in Toowoomba, I was snuggled up to hubby as far as I could to stop the cold wind from cutting me in two!!

Next weekend we're heading to Noosa, 3 nights at a beautiful resort.  We've made a pact that we'll go walking as much as we can, I'm looking forward to a breakfast cruise down the river though....so excited I can't wait!!!  The food usually goes mental when we're away ...but again we said we'd eat out and throw caution to the wind at least 1 night ...the rest of the time we're going to be good and make healthy choices!

OK that's your lot for now....ciao!

The Awful Truth....

Well....the awful truth, the truth is I have not only fallen off the 'weightloss wagon'....it's hardly even a blip on the landscape anymore!

I have taken to eating non-stop, oh yes I mean non-stop!  Cake, biscuits, chips, chocolate...anything I can get my hands on!

What the hell??  All the weight I was losing is back on ....but worse still every damned kilo has brought a couple of it's mates with it too!!  I weigh more now than I did at the start of this journey!

Depressed?  Oh yes......

Sad?  Yes.....very......

Unmotivated?  Well I think that goes without saying really!

So now I have had to go and buy more clothes, in a bigger size ....not happy Jan!!

My beautiful new rings!
The worst thing has been that my darling husband bought me a beautiful new wedding band and engagement ring, when we got married he always said that he'd buy me something even better when we were more financially stable.  So there I am in the jewellers a few weeks ago, dreading trying the rings on as I thought they were going to be too small....my already chubby stumpy fingers had 'grown' as the weight has piled back on....anyways, I managed to get both rings onto my fat little sausage finger....but it was VERY tight, the jeweller assured me that it was fine and was just becasue it was a different shape to my last rings.

No ....it wasn't fine.  We went in last week to drop them both off to be resized ...bigger of course!  Upside, I get to pick them up on Saturday ....yay!  Hubby did say that once my 'mojo came back' we'd be back to have them shrunk down again .....the poor woman didn't really know what to say and I certainly didn't know where to look!

My hubby is great, he always tells me he loves me regardless and of course I believe him.....but (you knew there was going to be a 'but' didn't you?) I feel so sad about how I look that I spend hours (yes hours) whinging and moaning that nothing fits and constantly putting myself down....because ...well I'm so uphappy with myself!  He must get sick of hearing it, only once has he said that only I could change that.....whilst I know he speaks the truth, it still hurt.  I was wanting to wallow in my self pity for a bit longer.....so it kind of stopped me in my tracks lol!

So, now I'm even further from my 'goal weight' than I've ever been.  Not really ready to share my current weight with the world...I will but just not today, one step at a time...so they say!

So anyone who happens to be following or reading this blog ...let me know how you stay on track, what do you do to get back on the wagon once you've strayed?  All and any help would be more than welcome!

Insecurities be gone!!!

If only it was really that easy??

I don't want anyone to take offence to this (as there is certainly none intented!) but I think of myself as a kind of 'reverse anorexic'...I have wardrobes and drawers FULL of clothes....in fact so many that I can't actually fit it all in! (Sadly some of my adored - but much too small - clothing has now been packed away into a port until my waistline strinks down to what I imagine I have!)

So yes the 'reverse anoroexia'....in my MIND I THINK and SEE myself as slim and healthy and I look amazing in my clothes........then I put them on and look in the mirror...............needless to say it usually ends in tears, clothing being thrown from one side of the room to the other, more tears, more self loathing.....poor hubby telling me I look fine and me not believing a word of it!

Darling hubby rang me on Thursday and said we're heading out for dinner with friends next weekend....needless to say that I am now on the verge of a nervous breakdown worrying what I'm going to wear!!  I have another week of this to go yet!  With the added weight gain over xmas I can feel the anxiety creeping through my body when I even begin to think what might look 'nice', I'm sitting here almost daring myself to get in my room and FIND something NOW!

I am alone with this?

Do any of you feel like this too?

This is just insane!!

Self sabotage be gone!!!

So thought I'd just touch base with my few followers!  No, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth.....more like I fell mouth first into anything and everything that tastes yummy .........and also happens to be laden with calories with very little nutritional value!

But I am back....I put on 3kgs during the xmas/new year holidays and I look like I'm about to pop out a baby!!  My tummy is flabby, bloated and I feel HIDEOUS!!!  Current weight (fully clothed) 76.4kgs
How Much...?????
I had a bit of a chat with myself this morning and kicked my butt a bit.....so breakfast was 2 poached eggs on wholemeal toast....ok I could have just had 1 and felt satisfied but I didn't .....I'm still sliding back into the 'healthy' eating bit lol :)

Lunch was a "CAG Juice" - 2 carrots, 2 apples and some ginger.  YUM!!  Why oh why did I ever stop juicing??  Darling hubby did a massive shop yeaterday whilst I was at work so the fridge and freezer are heaving with healthy choices.  So toinght I am trying to decide between salmon and salad or a juice......I think the salmon will win :P

Tomorrow I'm trying to stick to at least 2 juices (breakfast and lunch) then a smaller protein and salad.  NO COKE, NO CHOCOLATE....if I get to that part of the night where I just feel compelled to eat anything and everything that isn't nailed down I shall take deep breaths and grab a bottle of water.

OK wish me luck ......AGAIN......I know I can do this!!

A New Pyramid :)

So we've all seen the 'healthy food pyramid' right?

I think the current trend when anyone goes on a 'diet' nowadays is they try to swap the 'breads, cereal , rice and pasta' group at the bottom, with the 'meat, poultry' bit.

You know that whole more protein less carbs things, like the Atkins Diet.

So after my doco watching fest yesterday (lol), I have decided that I'm going to look more into the benefits and risks of 'fasting' (drinking only juice for a specified period of time).  A lot of people who have stuck to it boast weight loss but more importantly they 'feel healthier'.  They claim to have more energy after a few days ....that can't be a bad thing can it?

So of course there is a new pyramid to look at, one I quite like as I LOVE fruit n' veg :)

I've been eating very well for the past couple of weeks now and it's recommended that anyone looking at 'fasting' should spend at least a week reducing the amount of meat and junk that you'd normally eat.  I'm not a huge meat eater, the one thing I do love is my coffee so I'll try to reduce that a little more - or I know I'll be in agony with withdrawals from that!

I've decided that I'll do the '5 Day Reboot' of course, anyone who is following this blog will know that my #1 obstacle was that I have no juicer lol, that will hopefully be rectified tomorrow.  I've done some research and I've whittled it down to a chose between 2 models.

The one on the left is a Breville Juice Fountain $99.

The one on the right is the Breville Juice Fountain Plus $149.

Both have very good reviews, so I think it's going to come down to how easy they are to pull apart/put together and how easy they are to clean.  If any readers have experience with either machine, you're input here would be GREAT!

So I'm not sure how successful my shopping trip will be tomorrow, living out in the sticks can certainly have its drawbacks when it comes to trying to have a bit of choice really!  It may come down to the fact that I'll either have to settle for what is on offer OR I put the whole thing on hold until I can really get what I want!

Any Hoo thats about it for now folks :)

Thursday, 3 October 2013

Interesting......................very, very interesting :)

So I watched this documentary thing last night, I'd seen a few people raving about it, at first I was like "yeah, yeah whatever people chill out!" .........but holy moly, it was a huge eye opener, well ok, I guess I knew some of the stuff and of course I know how important 'food' is to being healthy and fit.......but it was kind of like being poked with a big stick to say "YES LOOK AT WHAT THESE FOODS ARE DOING TO YOU....WAKE UP!!"

The documentary was called 'Hungry for Change', I would certainly recommend anyone to watch this, fat or skinny!   I found it quite inspiring and very educational!  There was a guy in it called Joe Cross, an aussie guy who I just instantly liked.  Now ok, I haven't been living under a rock, I'd heard his name mentioned a few times here and there but had never really looked to see who he was or anything.  Well he too has a doco called 'Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead'.  I just watched that this morning.....and WOW!

The Amazing Joe Cross
I did have tears in my eyes at one point and was trying very hard to swallow a huge lump in my throat!  He's a juicing guru lol!  I've always thought people were a bit mad to think that 'juicing' was the way to go, the thought of not 'eating food' but drinking it was just too silly and unnatural to even contemplate.......I think I might have been wrong!

So do I think I could drink juice only for 30 days ......erm....I honestly don't think so.....do I think I could do it for 10 days ....maybe.....3 days ...yeah probably!  Obstacle #1 I have no juicer lol

I am thinking of giving it a go though....I might see if anyone I know has a juicer I can 'borrow', it seems to be an electrical appliance that if you have one you either use it all the time or it sits gathering dust in the back of the cupboard!

Watch this space............. :)

Saturday, 28 September 2013

I think this has to be a World Record ladies and gentlemen..........

Chocolate free for 1 whole week :)
OK ..................so maybe not a World Record, but a pretty big achievement for me, no chocolate since last Saturday!!  I did buy some low fat, low sugar, no taste ice cream - I'm not really a fan of ice-cream, even the full fat variety. Well needless to say I haven't eaten much of it ....the kids will polish it off for me though I'm sure!  I won't be wasting any more $$'s on it that's for sure!

I've finally (after a few weeks of thinking about it) made some 'overnight oats' and they're currently sitting in the fridge, I hope they turn out ok, I made 2 - what the hell, if they taste like crap I can feed them to the kids lol!  The recipes I found were here The Yummy Life  it is FULL of great looking recipes, it's saved to my favourites now so I dare say I'll let you know if anything else that's taken my fancy!

My fridge is looking mighty healthy too, full of salad and vegies, the freezer is heaving with a variety of lean meats ...even hubby remembered that I'd told him 'There's to be NO chocolate in this house!' on the phone before he came home, he didn't even slow down as we walked past the mint slice and choc montes lol!

Since I've been a bit of a fail on the old 'sugar free September' .....well ok MORE than a bit, it was a total flop, I didn't even make it out of the stalls really did I....so I have decided to just go back to basics.  To eat clean healthy food about 90% of the time (more if possible) and to make sure I do some exercise after work, whether it be a joggle, a DVD workout, just a bit of circuit training on the home equipment, something .....anything!

Tastes like watered down cordial!

Having said that, I have started taking a 'supplement' called D-fine8, I purchased through ASN, I'd seen a lot of good feedback from people taking it, saying they felt they had much more energy (of course it's packed with caffeine!) but I knew that I needed to try something, I had my first drink this morning, its kiwi-berry flavour and it really just tastes like very watered down cordial.  I'm not sure how I'll go with it but tomorrow I'll take as I intend to through the week, 1 serve prior to breakfast, then 1 serve pre-workout, I'll keep you posted on how I go with it!

Well folks that's about it for tonight I think, I didn't realise it had been so long between blogs, I'll try to not leave it so long.  There have been over 100 views this week, so I know someone out there is reading!

Cherrio for now!

Feeling pretty good.................what's wrong with me?

Well, my food today has been AWESOME (so far lol)!

I had 2 slices of rye with Vegemite for breakfast this morning, a sandwich of 2 slices of rye with a boiled egg mashed on it for lunch and have yet to raid any cupboards or fridge since I got home from work ......amazing achievement for me hahaha!

Ok, I know that is 4 slices of bread today - but it was rye bread, so I'm sure I can forgive myself.  I have some turkey mince almost defrosted for dinner tonight.  Not sure what I'll do with it yet...turkey mince something (maybe meatballs) with salad...who knows?

I saw a post on FB last week about someone who took chicken breast, dipped in egg then rolled in quinoa flakes, well I didn't have any flakes - I'll buy some next time I go to the bigger supermarket (it's over an hour to drive there!) and stock up on a few 'essentials'.   Ok so in lieu of the quinoa, I used oats flakes, then baked in the oven for about 30 minutes.  OMG  it was YUM!!!  I'll definitely do that again - except with quinoa lol.  That was last nights dinner, with salad ....it really was delicious!!

I'm feeling pretty fab today, to be honest!  I haven't done any exercise but they say weight loss is 80% food and 20% exercise (or is it 70% food and 30% exercise - depends which weight-loss guru you follow lol).  We all have to start somewhere, so I figured I'll try again with just getting this compulsion to eat anything and everything under control first, then add in the exercise!

I've been seeing a little gadget that I really want to buy .... looks pretty awesome to me!  I know they're available on ebay BUT then I have to wait FOREVER for it to arrive from China, so I think I might see if I can get one from either "Home" or "Robins Kitchen" next time I'm in the big smoke (hopefully in a week or so).

Ok lovelies, I think thats your lot for today :)

Have fun, Happy weight loss :)

Saturday, 21 September 2013

I'm not losing weight - oh it's ok I'm just in "Starvation Mode" ...............

Yes, I know it's total rubbish........but it's amazing how many people actually believe this to be FACT!!

Energy Balance

Energy balance is important for maintaining a healthy weight. The amount of energy or calories you get from food and drinks (energy IN) is balanced with the energy your body uses for things like breathing, digesting, and being physically active (energy OUT):
To maintain a healthy weight, your energy IN and OUT don’t have to balance exactly every day. It’s the balance over time that helps you maintain a healthy weight.
You can reach and maintain a healthy weight if you:
  • The same amount of energy IN and energy OUT over time = weight stays the same (energy balance)
  • More energy IN than OUT over time = weight gain
  • More energy OUT than IN over time = weight loss
  • Follow a healthy diet, and if you are overweight or obese, reduce your daily intake by 500 calories for weight loss
  • Are physically active
  • Limit the time you spend being physically inactive
SIMPLE!!!

I agree that when you've restricted your calorie intake for a while your metabolism may slow a little BUT aren't 'cheat days/meals' supposed to counter act that?  As they say - keep your body guessing, as human beings we'll become used to anything over a long period of time and adapt to it!

Holy Moly ....almost 300 views ....who looks at this crap...?

OK so I'm a bit shocked.......I thought I'd better get my arse into gear and write something on here ....so I log in and I'm up to 297 views ......that to me,  is just CRAZY.....it's just me ........drivelling sh!t you know!!!

So, the reason I felt compelled to write tonight .......ashy bines .....or should I say ashy slimes, as someone just called her hahahahahahahhaa....much more apt I think!

Sorry if you're a fan of hers, she's just well ....a skinny money hungry, plagiarising bitch!  A comment was made about her opening a 'clean eating cafe' .....this is the same women that warned the world of hidden dangers in salad "don't eat too much lettuce, it's very high in sugar" ....that statement says it all.......yet there are still those that idolise her.....why?  She has done nothing but copy and paste info that can very easily be gathered online then she slapped her name on it and claimed it as her own ......then had the audacity to charge people their hard earned cash for it!!!

I'm sorry but if I'm paying out money for someone to share their knowledge - I'd much rather they actually have some (knowledge that is!).  Or someone who says look this was me *insert pic of larger person* I stopped eating foods X, Y and Z and did L, M and N exercise and this is me now *insert pic of smaller person* this is what worked for me, you may be different......you know that sort of thing.  There are still those out there who spout the same crap about don't eat this or that and seem to know EVERYTHING there is to know about health, fitness ......even when things are working for you, they still have to tell you how you're 'doing it wrong', yet they're the size of a small truck ............

So my eating has been ....as always....a little hit n' miss, nothing new there ....I was talking to my mega gorgeous, princess, baby girl ...who isn't well at the moment - and after chatting for a fair while I said ok sweetie I have to go and eat a huge hamburger lol.....her respond was 'hmmm  that's healthy Mumma'....lol, as I was about to tell her how good I've been and hadn't eaten chocolate for the past 3 days I remembered that I'd just eaten 2 mint slice biscuits .....damn you husband with the packet of chocolately goodness!!!

Next Paragraph has Graphic Content - Eating Whilst Reading is NOT Recommended

Princess, baby girl was telling me how the doc has ordered blood, urine and stool sample tests.....I (as a nursey) was giving her practical advice on how to collect a stool sample ......which had us in hysterics .....practical Mumma was saying 'so put an ice-cream container into the loo to 'catch' the poo then open the sample container and use the little pooper scooper to collect some poo and put the lid back on the sample bottle' to which I hear "Oh Gross Mumma!"........Then we'd talked about her going to get her blood test done tomorrow morning and how she might be able to do the urine sample whilst she was there, Silly Mumma said "You could always try and do the stool sample if you could guarantee you were only going to do a little nugget poo....mind you just imagine the pathologists face if you did and whopper and have to walk out holding it, looking like a big brown banana shooting up out of the specimen jar saying "sorry but I can't seem to get the lid on"....I couldn't speak for a while as I was laughing so hard....... I'm sorry baby girl .....it was just too funny not to share :D  I love you xx

All Good Now - You Can Eat Again :)

As you might know - well, anyone who actually knows me or has bothered to read my profile, will know that I run an aged care facility.  I announced to my excited residents today that we would soon be taking delivery of some new scales, ones with hand rails - for frail little oldies to hang onto and feel safe whilst having their weight checked - then I added that it even had a height measure that could be recorded at the same time.....I saw their faces light up then one of my dear old ladies said "I think I've shrunk too much lately" so I promised her that if the number on the scales was too high we could just deduct it from the weight and add it onto her height - they all seemed delighted at the thought of this!!  Of course we shall all be 6 foot tall and weigh only 50kgs according to our scales....but that's ok .......how cool would it be if we could really change all that stuff!!  What weight/height would you choose?  I think I like my height ....well ok 163cms isn't very tall...I know ....maybe I could be 168cms.....and about 50kgs, then I'd be happy......well I probably wouldn't be.....it's not really in our nature to be happy with what we have is it?  Take my hair - well no don't ....or I'll be bald ......but hair for example - my sisters got curly hair, I have straight, I was paying a fortune for perms and body waves and she was paying about the same to have hers chemically straightened!!  CRAZY!!

I have to say I still kind of feel like I'm talking to myself most of the time.....so if there really is someone out there reading my posts...please let me know ....even if you just comment on your favourite post so far...let me know a little about yourself if you like, let me know if you're a blogger so I can have a read of yours too.....basically just let me know there is someone out there lol

Cherry Pip for now .....I'll be back again soon ......oh and if I have offended anyone with the comments about ashy slimes .....tough titties, we're all entitled to an opinion!!!

Yes I'm still here ...........

Ok, so I haven't been around for a few days.....the headache I spoke about on Sunday stayed with me until yesterday ....ya .....go me :(

I literally came in from work, dosed up with meds, looked at Facebook until I couldn't keep my eyes open then flopped into bed....so nothing exciting to write about really.

Had a bit of a late finish at work today ....but not to worry I still feel pretty good....well at least compared to earlier this week!!

We've got a few things that are a bit up in the air with life at the moment, so that sense of insecurity is a bit of a worry ...oh well some things we just have no control over!

My eating has been all over the place, mostly because I was just forcing food into me so that I could take some heavy duty pain killers ......yes, don't take your pain meds on an empty stomach ...its not good for your stomach lining!

I did see something that I thoroughly enjoyed reading last night ....thought I'd share ....because if anyone is still reading this blog (apart from me) they must have a bit of a strange sense of humour too ....so you might get a bit of a giggle (and a bit of an insight) out of it!

OK you VERY QUIET people ............I'm done for today ................over and out!

My poor head.................

*Sigh*

I kept waking up this morning, probably very conscious of not oversleeping, I didn't want to be the one who was late for the walk lol!

I finally got up at about 8ish (I think) and the walk went really well, we all laughed and joked and before we knew it we were back at Mellies, we all piled into hers for a well earned cuppa, my second of the day - I didn't quite manage breakfast when I first got up!

I got home and did some washing ....boring.....so I decided to watch the rest of 'Top of the lake', pretty good, I've just come to the computer and edited last nights post (sorry to anyone who 'read' the unedited version lol), so I decided to write up now as my head is starting to ache again, although I've been guzzling water like crazy!

It's been a pretty quiet day......thank goodness..........my early morning surprise was however stepping onto the scales.....check out the 'numbers' page to see my progress .....very happy considering how much I've strayed off track this week!

Well toodles for now, I'll be back again tomorrow ........unless something 'exciting'  happens that I need to share with you all :D

Saturday, 7 September 2013

Oh dear ...it seems I've been lead astray ..............lol!

Deary, deary me!

My day started early today ....5.45am....WTF??  I struggle to even wake up at that time on a work day .....but today being a Saturday I was of course awake super early with a bursting bladder ......damn all that bloody water I drank at work yesterday!!

I was at work to grab the float for our fund raising day and helping everyone set up by 8am, there was jam and relish and pickles and BBQ's and chairs and people everywhere it seemed, then the first order came in ....an egg and bacon muffin and guess what we'd forgotten ......to turn the BBQ on!!!  So the very first customer of the day waited patiently while we heated the plates and then watched in horror as the egg and bacon turned a lovely shade of .....well.....black lol!!
Setting up for  a busy morning!
So he waited again, watching as we carefully cleaned the BBQ and started again!!  Then the orders rolled in steadily throughout the morning, a bacon and egg muffin here and and a snag on bread there....and before we knew it Petie (my neighbour, best mate and work colleague) had burned her hand, our handy man was looking like a deer caught in the headlights, hardly able to comprehend the most simple of request (like toast more buns!) and another staff member (Darling Roz) was grabbing every single passing person and coaxing them into purchasing 'something ......well anything' before she'd let them pass!

By lunchtime we'd packed up and made the tidy sum of $750.00!  Not bad for a few hours work!!  We're very lucky to have a supportive community and I'm sure their cupboards are heaving at home, filled with every sort of jam imaginable!  Thanks to everyone who has helped with donations big or small, without you, none of this would be possible and thank you to my amazing staff who gave up their days off to help and the residents who sat down there with us helping to sell the raffle tickets and lucky numbers board!

So, I came home and did get to spend a little time with dear, sweet hubby before he took off to work again (won't see him now until next Saturday *sad face*) .  The plan 'was' going for a walk with Petie and another friend, Mellie, however things went a little awry, causing me to be lead astray!!

Mellie couldn't make our walk so we rescheduled until tomorrow morning (9am), then Petie suggested we have a few drinky poos instead of going for a walk - of course I protested (well, ok not very loud and not for very long..............in fact, I think I recall saying to her "sounds like a plan"!)

So, I have several vodka's under my belt now, I couldn't possibly be drunk though, as this is all going very well (until I get up tomorrow and have to edit the crap out of it of course!).  I did however eat quite well today .....I had oats and strawberries with almond milk, a handful of pistachios (thanks #1 son!), a pear and some skinless chicken and salad for tea - to soak up some vodka tonight!

Overall I've had a pretty good day, lots of giggles, trumpets and the wonderful Katy Perry (apart from farewelling poor hubby for another week - that sucks!), tomorrow will be a good day, lots of water will be swallowed (I hear it's good for a hangover!) and a good breakfast will be had before walking (hopefully it will stay down and there will be no technicolour rainbows on our morning walk!) and there may very well be a nanna nap after lunch (or straight after the walk depending on how I feel!)......there will however be no drinky poos tomorrow!  Tomorrow is a new day .................a new start lol ......yes .......again!!!
